Artist Statement

My artwork is composed of snippets of the seasons of my life, like a journey diverted from a highway to a dirt road, into a forest or along a sandy beach. Each piece I create presents a visual interpretation of the beauty of imperfection and the fragility of our own existence. My hope is that my artwork will stir the viewer’s emotions and allow long lost memories to emerge. Themes for my works include the mystery of faith, aging gracefully in an era of social media filters, wanderlust, overcoming ego, depression, anxiety, as well as the healing powers of nature. Love is the underlying message in each piece, because when I put love out there -- self love or love for others -- I create a ripple effect in the world.

There are many empowering benefits of dance, but healing from sexual ​assault was never supposed to be one of them. This mini-documentary ​takes you through a young woman’s narrative of her sexual assault and ​how she uses dance to heal from the trauma. One in four women report ​being a victim of sexual assault on a college campus. She is the one.
